A Study Session

Days turned into weeks, and Emily found herself growing more and more accustomed to Liam's presence. They continued to clash, but their arguments had become more of a routine than anything else.

One evening, as they were packing up to leave the library, Liam turned to Emily and said, "Hey, do you want to study together for our upcoming exam?"

Emily raised an eyebrow. "Why would I want to do that?"

Liam shrugged. "Because we're partners, and it would be easier to study together. Plus, I have some notes that might help you."

Emily hesitated for a moment. She did need to study, and Liam's notes might be helpful. But she wasn't sure if she wanted to spend any more time with him than necessary.

"What's in it for you?" she asked, trying to sound nonchalant.

Liam grinned. "Oh, I think I can come up with something."

Emily's heart skipped a beat as she wondered what he might have in mind.

"Fine," she said finally. "But just for studying."

Liam's smile grew wider. "Scout's honor."

Emily rolled her eyes, but she couldn't help feeling a spark of excitement. What would it be like to study with Liam, to see him in a more relaxed setting?

As they made plans to meet up the following evening, Emily couldn't shake the feeling that she was getting in over her head.

The next evening, Emily arrived at the library, her books and notes in hand. She spotted Liam already seated at a table, his eyes fixed on his phone.

As she approached, Liam looked up and smiled. "Hey."

Emily returned the smile, feeling a slight flutter in her chest. "Hey."

They spent the next few hours studying, Liam's notes proving to be incredibly helpful. Emily found herself relaxing in his presence, their banter and arguments momentarily forgotten.

As the evening drew to a close, Liam walked Emily out of the library. The cool night air was a welcome relief after the stuffy library.

"Thanks for studying with me," Emily said, feeling a sense of gratitude towards Liam.

Liam smiled. "No problem. We make a decent team."

Emily raised an eyebrow. "Decent?"

Liam chuckled. "Okay, fine. We make a great team."

Emily smiled, feeling a spark of warmth towards Liam. But she quickly pushed it aside, reminding herself that they were just study partners.

As they parted ways, Emily couldn't help but wonder what the future held for them. But for now, she was content to take things slow.
