First meeting

Emily glared at the clock on her dashboard, her fingers drumming an impatient rhythm on the steering wheel. She was already running late for her shift at the coffee shop, and now she was stuck behind a slow-moving truck.

Just as she was about to pass the truck, a sleek black sports car zoomed past her, cutting off the truck and nearly sideswiping Emily's car in the process. Emily's heart skipped a beat as she slammed on the brakes, her eyes blazing with anger.

And that's when she saw him - the driver of the sports car, a handsome but arrogant-looking guy with piercing blue eyes and a chiseled jawline. He caught her eye and smirked, before speeding off into the distance.

Emily's anger turned to fury. Who did this guy think he was?

Emily's anger simmered as she rushed to her psychology lecture, already running 10 minutes behind schedule. She grabbed a seat near the back and tried to catch her breath.

As she scanned the room, her eyes landed on the arrogant driver from earlier. He was sitting near the front, chatting with their professor like they were old friends.

Emily's eyes narrowed. Who was this guy, and why did he seem to think he was above the law?

The professor began the lecture, and Emily tried to focus. But she couldn't help sneaking glances at the mysterious driver.

As the lecture drew to a close, the professor announced the group project assignments. Emily's heart sank as she saw her name paired with none other than the arrogant driver.

"You've got to be kidding me," she muttered under her breath.

Liam raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. "Problem, Emily?"

Emily's anger flared. "Just great. I'm stuck with the guy who nearly ran me off the road this morning."

The classroom fell silent, with all eyes on Emily and Liam. Emily's face burned with embarrassment, but she refused to back down.

Liam's smirk grew wider. "Ah, you must be the girl who can't drive."

Emily's eyes flashed with anger. "At least I don't drive like a reckless maniac."

The tension between them was palpable. It was clear that this was going to be a very long project.

As Emily walked out of the classroom, she could feel Liam's eyes on her. She quickened her pace, her heart still racing from their confrontation.

She didn't notice Liam following her until she heard his footsteps behind her. "Hey, Emily," he called out, his voice low and smooth.

Emily spun around, her eyes flashing with anger. "What do you want, Liam?"

Liam caught up to her, a smirk playing on his lips. "I thought we could discuss our project. You know, get to know each other a little better."

Emily raised an eyebrow. "I don't think that's necessary."

Liam chuckled. "Oh, I think it's very necessary. We're going to be spending a lot of time together, Emily."

Emily's eyes narrowed. "I'm not looking forward to it."

Liam's smirk grew wider. "I'm shaking in my boots."

The tension between them was palpable, and Emily could feel the air thickening with anticipation. What was Liam's game, and why was he so determined to get under her skin?

Emily's eyes flashed with anger, but she refused to back down. "Look, Liam, I don't know what kind of game you're playing, but I'm not interested."

Liam's smirk faltered for a moment, before he regained his composure. "Game? I'm not playing a game, Emily. I'm just trying to get to know my partner."

Emily raised an eyebrow. "Partner? You think we're partners? We're just stuck together for this project."

Liam chuckled. "Ah, but that's where you're wrong, Emily. We're not just stuck together. We're going to be working together, side by side, for the next few weeks."

Emily's stomach twisted with anxiety at the thought. She didn't want to spend any more time with Liam than she had to.

Just then, Liam's phone buzzed. He pulled it out and glanced at the screen, a look of annoyance crossing his face.

"Looks like I've got to go," he said, tucking his phone back into his pocket. "But don't think this is the last you've seen of me, Emily."

With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Emily feeling frustrated and confused.

As she watched him go, Emily couldn't help but wonder what had just happened. And why did she get the feeling that this was only the beginning of a very long and complicated semester?
