Arenda stormed into the kitchen, slamming her bag onto the counter. "Mom, I'm starving!" she exclaimed, opening the fridge to scan its contents.
Her mom, sipping coffee at the table, smiled calmly. "Hey, sweetie, I was just about to make some lunch. Why don't you sit down and tell me about your day?"
Arenda huffed, dropping into a chair. "It was fine, I guess. Just the usual drama with Liken."Her mom raised an eyebrow. "What did he do now?"
Arenda rolled her eyes. "Just his usual arrogant self. Thinks he's God's gift to humanity just because he's a star athlete."
Her mom chuckled. "Well, you have to admit, he is quite charming."Arenda scoffed. "Charming? Please. He's just a self-absorbed jerk."
Just then, the doorbell rang. Arenda's mom got up to answer it, revealing Arenda's dad and Liken's parents standing in the doorway.
"Hey, everyone! Come on in," Arenda's mom said, ushering them into the kitchen.Arenda's eyes narrowed as Liken's parents exchanged warm smiles with her own. What were they doing here?
"Liken's not with you, is he?" Arenda asked, trying to keep her tone neutral.Liken's mom smiled sweetly. "No, dear, he's at practice. But we're here to discuss something important with your parents."
Arenda's curiosity was piqued. What could be so important? Her dad cleared his throat, his expression serious. "Arenda, sweetie, we need to talk to you about something. You know how our families have been friends for years?"
Arenda nodded, feeling a sense of trepidation."Well," her dad continued, "we've decided that it's time for our families to become even closer."Arenda's eyes widened as she realized where this was going.
"Liken and you are going to get married," her mom announced, as if it was the most normal thing in the world.Arenda's jaw dropped. "What?! You can't be serious!"
